MERGE Youth Group 2008 Summer Schedule |
for youth in grades 6 through 12
Merge Youth Group is where middle school and high school students merge their individual personalities into one group, a group centered on Christ. Youth learn what is takes to be Christ's feet, hands, and voice in today's world.
As a group, we enjoy a variety of activities throughout the year. Sometimes we just get together to have fun. Occasionally we do things to raise money for a good cause. Many times we get together and help people in our community. At least once a year we travel out of state to help people. We also do little things right here at home to serve our church family.

Here is our summer schedule! Merge will not be meeting at times other than those listed below.
Sunday, June 1st - BACKYARD BBQ
5-8 PM
Woodmansee Residence (429 Shelle Rd.)
No cost.
All youth are encouraged to attend and bring friends.
Our activity this week will be reviewing our summer activities, talking about the 2009 Spring Break Mission Trip, and talking about how we can grow our group during the next year.
Friday, June 6th - LOCK-IN
8 PM
First Christian Church (115 Courthouse Plaza)
No cost.
The lock-in will begin a 8 pm Friday - and will last until 8 am Saturday morning.
During these 12 hours together, our activities will include a special ministry project, a worship service w/ communion, movies, video games, and sardines (a fun game of hide-a-seek). Breakfast will be provided. Youth are encourage to bring a snack or drink to share.
All youth are strongly encouraged to attend and to bring as many friends as they can.
Monday, June 9th - VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
1-3:30 PM
First Christian Church (115 Courthouse Plaza)
Can you help?
Vacation Bible School is a week-long activity for children through grade 6 in our community. It runs from Monday, June 9th through Friday, June 13th - 1-3:30 each day.
Merge youth are encouraged to volunteer to be teacher's assistants or children's guides during the week. Nursery assistants are also needed. If you can help with VBS this year, please contact Shannan Osborn at shannan@ksu.edu.
Saturday, June 21st - WORLDS OF FUN TRIP
8 AM - 11 PM
Meet at First Christian Church (115 Courthouse Plaza)
Cost - $50 per person (learn how to go FREE - read below)
Please sign up by June 14th - see below.
We will be spending a day at Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri. We will meet at the church and travel as a group!
The cost per person is $50. However! If you want to go free - all you have to do is bring at least 1 friend. And guess what - your friends get to go free too! You are encouraged to bring as many friends as you can!
Lunch and supper will be provided by the church, but youth will need to bring money for snacks and pop throughout the day.
If you want go, sign up by contacting Dave Woodmansee no later than June 14th at dave@fccmanhattan.org and provide him with your name and the names of all your friends who are going with you.

We will be watching a great movie together! Bring your friends and come check it out!
Sunday, July 6th - SECOND HELPING
3-6:30 PM
Meet at First Christian Church (115 Courthouse Plaza)
No cost.
4-5 youth are needed.
Second Helping is a local ministry that provides a hot meal each Sunday to the homeless, sheltered, and low-income families in our community. Typically 25-30 people are served each week. This ministry is provided by the First Congregational United Church of Christ at 700 Poyntz Ave.
We will meet at our church, then walk over to the Congregational Church as a group. We will help prepare the meal, prepare carry-out sack lunches, serve during the meal, and help clean up. We will return to FCC when we are done.
Saturday, July 12th - THEATER ROOM PROJECT
1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
First Christian Church (115 Courthouse Plaza)
No cost.
We'll be painting our Church Theater Room - so come prepared to get a little paint on you and your clothes. This will be fun - so bring your friends!
Saturday, July 19th - CAR WASH
10:30 am to 3:30 pm
AutoZone on Ft. Riley Blvd.
No cost.
This will be our only fundraiser during the summer. It is important for all youth to participate for this fundraiser to be a success. We will be donating some of the funds to a local mission, the remaining funds will go to help offset the cost of our 2009 Spring Break Mission Trip.

Sunday, August 3rd - SECOND HELPING

We'll meet at City Park for a couple of hours of fun. We can play volleyball, basketball, Frisbee - anything of that sort.

Saturday, August 23rd - FALL KICK-OFF YOUTH RETREAT

Living Water Ranch
No cost.
We will meet at Living Water Ranch for an afternoon of FUN! There'll be swimming, a water slide, volleyball, basketball, tetherball, Frisbee golf, etc. Parents are invited to join in for supper and a campfire.
