Senior Pastor

Neil Engle

Pastor Neil is currently on a two month long sabbatical which began July 21st.

Neil will return on September 22nd.

Greetings!  I'm a native Kansan, having been born in Emporia and raised in Shawnee Mission, where I was active in Countryside Christian Church.  I graduated from Phillips University and Phillips Graduate Seminary and was ordained into the ministry in 1981.

Before beginning my ministry here in Manhattan in July, 2002, I had served congregations in Sheridan, Wyoming; Kansas City, Missouri; and McPherson, Kansas.

My wife, Holly, and I have been married since 1978.  We have two children: Ben and Gretchen.  We also have an Old English Sheepdog named Bentley.

I'm a huge fan of The Andy Griffith Show.  I also enjoy the Marx Brothers, The Simpsons, and MXC: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge.

Thanks for clicking on the staff page!  All the really interesting and cool stuff I usually share in person, so if you want to know more, drop me an email at christy@fccmanhattan.org, or give me a call at (785) 236-0342.

I was born and raised in North Carolina (hence the slight accent) and went to undergrad at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where I studied Speech/Language Pathology.  I became an Americorps* volunteer which brought me to Kansas to serve in the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center.  I stayed in Wichita and then graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in Social Work.  I have specialty training in crisis counseling, substance abuse, children and family counseling.

I graduated from Phillips Theological Seminary in 2006 with a Masters of Divinity and was ordained by the Kansas region in 2007.  I have served congregations in North Carolina and Kansas for the past eight years.

I have 2 “four legged kids”; Ella Marie and Duchess Anne. They love to play and meet new people.

I am interested in knowing what makes life interesting, fun and meaningful.  I am always up for an adventure and don’t shy away from a challenge.  I look forward to the opportunity to share this journey together!

Secretary

Marian Fuller

Hi.  My name is Marian Fuller.  I have served as church secretary at First Christian Church since August of 1983.  I moved to Manhattan with my family from Olathe, Kansas where I served as a church secretary in a Lutheran congregation.  I feel blessed to have two church families here in Manhattan – First Christian, and First Congregational Church, of which my husband, Jim, and I are members.  In addition to appreciating the wonderful people at FCC, I also have the highest respect for the Disciples of Christ denomination.

Jim and I have two adult children and one grandchild, Jared.  Only one, but he is perfect!
