DAVID AND LINDA JONES FAMILY

Most of us know the Jones family - David, Linda, Nathan and Lindsey.  We know that David is an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is currently the Ecumenical Campus Ministry pastor at Kansas State University.  We know that Linda is an agent for the AFLAC company (you know, the one with the annoying but adorable duck that gets into everyone’s face).  You may also know that Nathan (senior) and Lindsey (junior) are both students at Riley County High School.  The Jones family faithfully attends our church and adds significantly to our church family.  Linda came off a three year tour of duty as a Trustee of our church just a year ago.

The Jones reside on small acreage just east of Keats where they raise a horse and a small herd of cattle.  Some of you are probably aware that David and Linda put several of their cattle to graze on the new church property about a year ago (perhaps to validate the phrase “Holy Cow”?).

Now some things you may not know about the Jones family:  David holds a PhD in Church History from Vanderbilt University, and before coming to Manhattan served as pastor of First Christian Church in Coffeyville, KS.  David was born in Manhattan while his father was in Veterinary Med School.  In 1994 David came full circle and brought his family “back home” to Manhattan.

Linda is a graduate of Kansas State University, and grew up in Raytown, MO.  Linda has been an agent for 10 years with AFLAC, but serves clients in a six state area.  She is one of her company’s top producers.  Her accolades are many, and she and David have shared many worldwide trips courtesy of the AFLAC contest and awards system.

Nathan is not only a scholar at Riley County High School, he also runs cross country and plays on the basketball team.  He represented Riley County High School at the state cross country meet last year, and attended Boy’s State this past summer.  Lindsey is also involved in sports (when not nursing a bum knee) and participates in basketball and softball.  Both Nathan and Lindsey are 4-H members and consistently place high in their exhibits at local, regional, and state fairs.

The Jones family likes to travel together.  One of their more memorable trips was spending Christmas in Mexico.  Next time you see them, ask them about that trip.

We are blessed to have this loving, service driven and spiritually filled family as members of our congregation.
