YOUR ELDERS...

An Elder is to be a leader in the fulfillment of the goals of the First Christian Church and its purpose as stated in the by-laws of the church.

This purpose is: To love God, to love others and to lead others to Jesus Christ.

The Elders in our congregation have been meeting on the second Sunday of each month immediately after church for training.   The training topics have been on:

Our May training will be on May 4th since the 11th is Mother’s Day.  The training will be presented by Rev. Christy Dew on the topic of “Hospitality” - “What to do when someone wants to know if they are saved,”   “How do I apply the Armor of God” and more.   All Elders are invited - past, present and Lifetime Elders.  If you have topics you would like our pastors to lead us in learning, please share your ideas with an Elder or Pastor.

Our Elders are compassionate and giving.  Each week they call on all our homebound to make sure they receive communion and report their needs to the Pastors and Elders.  Our Elders follow-up on members in their Care Clusters  to get acquainted and to assist with their needs.    If you do not know what Care Cluster you are in, please check under the ministries tab on this website.  You can also call the church office to ask Marian (785) 776-8790.  If you know of someone in the congregation who needs to be visited, please let us know.  It is necessary as a congregation to communicate the needs of people we love and know.  By sharing  information our church family becomes a nurturing, caring gift from God.

Many thanks to all the current Elders:  Greg/Tammy Carson,  Don/Joan Thomson,  John Trussell,  David Rogers, Ken/Cindy Garwick, Linda Gallagher, Diane Gaede, Leonard/Sharon Purvis, Renate Woodmansee, Ruth Lackey, Nancy Goulden,  Pam Russell and Janice Barrons.  Special thanks to Elders who continue to help:  Debi Rogers, Gene Ernst, and Ben and Carol Duerfeldt.
