THE INGMIRES

Randy, Lorena, Megan, Brock & Mac

The Ingmires are relatively new members of our congregation, coming to Manhattan in 2000.  Randy is Vice President of Academic Affairs at Manhattan Christian College.  We have been blessed on the occasions when he has presented the sermon in Neil’s absence.  We are blessed when the Ingmires are at worship as they take up almost an entire pew!

Randy and Lorena have served churches in Junction City (Associate Pastor), Lamar, CO (Senior Pastor), and Warrensburg, MO (Senior Pastor).  In 1992 Randy was appointed an Associate Professor at Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Illinois.  The Ingmires moved back to Manhattan in 2000 when Randy became the Vice President of Academic Affairs at MCC.  This was somewhat of a homecoming as Randy is originally from Council Grove and Lorena from Medicine Lodge. They met while attending Kansas State University.  During his tenure at MCC Randy also achieved a Master’s Degree in Preaching from Lincoln Christian College.  For many years, Lorena’s work was being a mother of four children.  After moving to Manhattan, she volunteered to work as a “para” and quickly determined that she not only had the skills to be in charge of a classroom, but she could get paid for the work she was doing!  So she decided to go back to school, get her Kansas teaching certificate, and now after teaching her first year in Topeka, teaches in the Family and Consumer Sciences department at Manhattan High School.

You will find it interesting to know about their children.  Megan, who most of you do not know, lives in Topeka and is currently working for the Department of Labor.  This assignment comes after several years of working on Governor Sebelieus’ campaign staff, and later in the Governor’s office.  Bryce is now a senior at the University of Kansas and is completing his fourth year in Piano Performance.  (Maybe we can get him to come to FCC and give us a recital!)  You may have read about Mac in the sports pages this past winter, as he helped lead the Manhattan High basketball team to a very successful season resulting in a trip to the State Tournament.  Mac will graduate in May and continue his studies at Lincoln Seminary, where he will study the ministry while also continuing to play basketball.  Brock (Mac’s twin) also graduates in May and will continue his studies in Kearney, Nebraska, studying Speech Communication and will be on the university’s forensics team.  In high school Brock was a double state 2008 champion in Oratory and Informative Speaking.

When asked if the Ingmires have any hobbies, we find that it is pretty much…..working!  Randy and Lorena have taught marriage and leadership seminars over the years and Randy coached in the Manhattan Summer Basketball League.  One year they took a family vacation at St. Simon’s Island, Georgia.

The Ingmires all are professionals and excellent students, and all enjoy their chosen fields of work and study.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet them, it will be your privilege to get to know them.  We are so proud they are members of our church family!
